i am begging my american followers to learn about tax brackets

Especially how they disincentivize growth and upward mobility.

you have not learned about tax brackets

alright i got this reply so fast i think i need to address this explicitly. tax brackets do not mean you will make less than before when you get a raise! say your income is taxed at 20% but have a 30% tax bracket starting at $10k, this means all the money you make up to 10k is taxed at 20%! anything above that, minus 10k, is taxed at 30%. the $10k you made remains at 20%, unaffected by the higher tax bracket. if you made exactly $10k you’ll have $8k after taxes; if you made $11k that’s 10k at 20% and 1k at 30%, so $8700! you should never turn down a raise because of tax brackets!

it surprised me when i learned this! but it also surprised me that i didn’t already know it because it seems so obvious in retrospect! it’s almost as if…some people…profit from us not knowing it

That’s true, however it is still disincentive to growth, just not as bad as it could be. You still slowly make less the more and more you make. Income tax is a horribly flawed system and should be phased out.

Anon be like “blasphemy is fun and clever.”

Wait I’m confused, isn’t it literally done to “consume the body of Christ”? And therefore it is quite literally the definition of vore.

i think the only thing wrong with some of us is that we’re being robbed of traditional jobs like woodworking artisans and witch doctors and being forced to like… write a cv and breathe stale air conditioner air when we should be barefoot hauling oranges from an orchard…

orchards still exist

Yeah but then you have to live with rural people

And they are filled with illegals…

No so much up north

Become a general contractor. I get to be creative while working with my hands and power tools, I rarely meet another contractor who isn’t a cool hardworking man. You can work in rain or shine, climbing ladders and digging holes. It’s ideal.

i can tell you right now that these are rich people. it’s not the hot tub in the background. it’s not even the money suit. it’s the fact that both girls are dressed and styled like women in their 40s. seriously, i have two cousins who are rich as hell and this is how they dress. ive seen pictures of groups of them flocked together, usually somewhere with a golf course in the background, every last one of them dressed exactly like their mothers. i dont know why. but i can tell you right now with absolute certainty these girls went to a debutante ball and have had their own horse since they were 10. they named it trudy or something. i know all this because those girls are about to leave the house looking like the desperate housewives and nobody sees anything wrong with that

Damn, chill^
I purchased my first horse as a child with birthday funds, lets save all that salt for fries honey.

“my first horse”

People on this website just hate to see a cracker thrive. You don’t even have to be that rich, in the grand scheme of things, to own a horse or two if you really want them.

“Poor” Kid: My mommy bought me 500 dollar playstation and 200 dollars worth of games for my birthday.

Rich Kid: I user my birthday money to buy a horse.

“Poor” Kid: Eat the rich!!!

Businesses do pay a living wage. People just keep moving the goal post for what determines a “living wage”. The federal poverty line for a single person is 5.83 an hour.

I feel like this was written by someone who never discussed politics with their parents until they decided to be communist in middle school and their dad laughed at them

And hasn’t spoken with her father like an adult since.

Actually, my dad had literally zero political opinion and I cannot clearly recall a single political thing he ever said before i was 14/15 and then he suddenly became a screaming far far left pro-communist gun grabbing liberal. Thankfully in the time before he became super political I managed to do my own learning and come to my own conclusions.

you guys should just start stealing instead of complaining about capitalism

Peak irony is hating capitalism but vowing to steal from capitalists to get those things you really want/need that can only be obtained from capitalism.

So, our Lung is on fire.

It is already threatened by huge deforestation, to the point it lost 20% of its wildth in less than 30 years.

It’s been burning for around two weeks and almost no word has been uttered about it. I, sincerely, have come to find out about it just now. I’m shooketh ™️ because we’re really burning away this planet.

The Amazon Rainforest holds 20% of global waters, it’s an area of incredible value in termns of biodiversity and, nevermind, it’s a crucial climate regulator. Spread awareness, demand help.

I’m not going to care about this until someone sends me evidence that this isn’t an overdue, natural burn.

That is the point I have been trying to make all along. If it is burning like this it is due to copious amounts of dead material scattered across the forest floor (Live healthy forests don’t burn), natural burns happen all the time. I keep seeing this stupid fire posted all over the place and every time people are literally screaming “facism” and “Brazil needs to be boycotted!!!!!11!!” and “Why isn’t Trump doing something!!” like???

Not to mention there is nothing that could be done anyway, California has a massive fire fighting system in place and even they struggle with large fires, Brazil does not have thousands of firefighters and tons of fire fighting vehicles. The cost to get gear there would be ENORMOUS.

Yes to most of this, except what we can do in Cali is stop planting eucalyptus trees, but other than that, burns are natural, but do need to be manipulated to save the lives of those people that live in the forest.

Oh yes, I know why the burns were happening in Cali, my point was more so that Brazil does not commonly fight massive fires. Whether or not Cali’s fires were their own stupidity is another topic altogether.

you’d think Hollywood would be out of ways to skeeve me out at this point, but this weird trend of continuing to profit from and use actors and actresses after they’re dead is pretty gross, even if this isn’t as creepy as CGI Carrie Fisher and Peter Cushing in Star Wars

Actually, his family specifically requested that he be included in the film as it was a role he enjoyed greatly.

It’s very interesting that Americans have such a deep attachment to court/formal gardening with clipped lawns and hedges instead of informal cottage garden.

It might be because Americans all wanted to present themselves as higher class back in the day but I really wish we’d stop.

you guys just don’t have epic lawn skills and can’t play football with little kids in the back yard

I’m all for growing plants and stuff, but decrying a big, flat lawn is a sure sign that someone doesn’t want kids, and someone who doesn’t want kids isn’t to be trusted.

Mowed lawns being commonplace spawned from European artists who painted estates with short lawns out of laziness and common people decided that having a low cut lawn was to be fancy, so they started cutting their lawns short. This then migrated to America.

It’s all bull, natural lawns are so much nicer, cheaper, and easier than cut lawns.

Being in Williamsburg has really got me to reconsider life in general and how I view things. Its easy to forget how life was before.

In the 1700s, 95% of the population was completely uneducated, illiterate, would live the entirety of their lives on a farm, doing hard labor twelve hours a day from sun up to sun down. The average farm house had a packed dirt floor, two rooms, eight people to a bedroom. Starvation was frequent, there was no chance of moving up in life, that was it.

No AC, no electricity, no internet. Meals were cooked slowly over a wood fire. Not even the rich had “fridges”. You were lucky if you lived to 40.

Flash forward to today, people are screaming for a 15 dollar minimum wage from their phones, educated, cooking dinner in ten minutes themselves from their stove, chilling in the AC, one bedroom per person, all because they cannot own a car, raise a family, rent an entire house, AND save enough to pay for any emergency that may arise. All on the absolute most bottom pay imaginable.

We take SO MUCH for granted, and its almost sickening. If we just stopped and enjoyed what we had, realized how lucky we are. We would be so much happier as a people.
